Maya Shochat (1995) is a multidisciplinary creator
whose work spans photography, graphic design, sculpture, and jewelry design.
Drawn to contrasts, she combines materials and techniques from varied
origins—natural and artificial, soft and rigid, delicate and raw. Her work blurs
the boundaries between jewelry and objects, design and art, often referencing
imagery from the histories of art, design, and architecture.
Maya’s creations explore themes of gender, identity, and
cultural belonging, utilizing materials such as precious metals, ceramics, and
fabric. She reinterprets traditional crafts through a contemporary lens, and in
her process, deconstructs and reconstructs images, materials, and technologies
to develop a unique visual language where contrasts and worlds coexist
harmoniously within a new system.
